Using the Organize Tool

You have already learned how to create folders and move e-mail messages to folders to help keep your Outlook information organized (look back at Lesson 7, "Attaching Files and Items to a Message," for more info). Outlook also provides an easy-to-use tool, called the Organize tool, that can help you move, delete, or color code received and sent mail. The Organize tool can even help you deal with annoying junk e-mail that you receive. The Organize feature is able to read the e-mail address of the sender of a particular message and use it to find all the messages in the Inbox that this person has sent. The Organize feature can also use other criteria, such as keywords, to help organize e-mail that you receive. It can actually be configured to delete certain junk mail as soon as you receive it.

The Organize tool provides the Move Message and Create a Rule commands for getting messages out of a particular folder, such as the Inbox, and placing these items into a different folder. Each of these avenues for moving messages to a particular Outlook folder has its own set of commands in the Organize pane.
