Chapter 1. Getting Started in Outlook > Understanding the Outlook Window

Understanding the Outlook Window

The Outlook window includes items you can use to navigate in and operate the program. If you do not see some of the items listed in Figure 10.1 on your screen, open the View menu and select the command for the appropriate element (such as Toolbars, Status Bar,Folder List, or OutlookBar). A check mark in front of an item means the item is currently showing. If you find the Preview pane distracting when you first open the Outlook window, click the View menu and click Preview Pane to close the Preview pane.

Table 10.1 describes the elements you see in the opening screen.
