Chapter 20. Customizing Outlook > Setting Mail Setup Options

Setting Mail Setup Options

The Mail Setup tab of the options dialog box allows you to access existing e-mail accounts or create new accounts (see Figure 20.5). This tab also controls other options, such as which e-mail accounts are accessed when you use the Send and Receive command on the Outlook toolbar. An additional set of options related to your Outlook data files, such as your archive files and files that hold your personal folders, can also be accessed on this tab.

Caution

Outlook Data File Placement Is Crucial Outlook places your personal folders and archive files based on whether you are working on an Exchange Server network or a PC connected to an Internet service provider. Therefore, you might want to forgo manipulating the names and placement of these files using the Data Files option on the Mail Setup tab. You could potentially cripple Outlook by changing these filenames or locations.
