Locating Files

You can search for files by filename, by location, and by the date the files were created or last saved. Alternatively, files can be located by using the information you enter in the Properties dialog box for each file. You also can search for specific text that occurs in a project document . Specify search criteria as broadly or narrowly as you want. The more you narrow the search, the fewer number of files will be found.

The files found by using the search criteria are listed in the Open dialog box. As described earlier in this chapter, with this list, you can browse through the directories you included in the search, sort the files in the list, and preview any file without opening it in Microsoft Project. Furthermore, you can view summary information about a file—specifically the filename, title, size, author, and date last saved—or you can view the properties information entered for a file. See the section "Additional Options for Using the Selected File," earlier in this chapter.
