Chapter 9. Understanding Resource Scheduling > Modifying Resource Assignments

Modifying Resource Assignments

You have seen that you can define a resource assignment by specifying the task duration, the assignment units, and the work for the assignment. You have seen that your choice of the task type and its Effort Driven status also impact resource assignments. In this section, you will examine other options you have for fine-tuning resource assignments. Your choices include the following:

  • Assigning overtime work on a task.

  • Applying one of the predefined work contours to an assignment.

  • Manually adjusting a resource contour on a task.

  • Splitting a resource's schedule on a task to accommodate time when she is needed elsewhere.

  • Splitting an entire task and rescheduling the remaining work.

  • Adding a delay to a resource's start date for working on a task.

  • Scheduling the resource based on a task calendar instead of the resource calendar.
