Chapter 12. Reviewing the Project Plan > Filtering the Task or Resource List

Filtering the Task or Resource List

When you filter the task list, you impose conditions that must be met to display a task. All the tasks that meet the conditions are allowed to filter through and are displayed. These are known as filtered tasks. All those tasks that fail to meet the conditions are not displayed. You can apply a filter, for example, to display only the milestones (as shown in Figure 12.6), only the critical tasks, or only the summary tasks. You also can use the filters to just highlight the tasks selected by the filter, leaving the rest of the tasks displayed but not highlighted (see Figure 12.7). When this type of filter is used, the tasks that meet your filter conditions are displayed in blue. You can use the Text Styles dialog box (Format, Text Styles) to alter the highlighted tasks color. Filters also can be used in resource views to display specific resources.
