Chapter 27. Introduction to Visual Basic... > Why Use Visual Basic Macros

Why Use Visual Basic Macros

Visual Basic for Applications macros enable you to automate your work . A VBA macro is simply text created either by recording it or by manually entering the instructions via the Visual Basic Editor (VBE) that are then interpreted by Project when you run the macro.

For example, instead of manually printing a series of reports, waiting for each to complete before you manually start the next, you can automate the process and leave the macro to remember what has to be done, how to do it, and the format it should be in. A macro can also turn a job that only someone skilled in the use of Project can do into one that anyone can do by opening a Project file and pressing a specific keystroke combination. Thus, automation using Visual Basic macros can save you time and allow delegation of what would otherwise be advanced work to the less skilled.
