Predicting the future is risky, even for a skilled project manager. The foundation of project control is to know which of your predications are proving to be inaccurate. Analyzing progress, part of the Controlling process of project management, and revising the schedule are important pieces of your project management process. If you spot trouble in your project (unfavorable variances), the next step is to figure out how you will revise your work plan to complete the schedule within the available time and budget.
