Chapter 39. Using Outlook Securely > Sending Secure Messages on the Internet

Sending Secure Messages on the Internet

While the Internet is convenient to use, you might wonder how secure it is and what you can do to enhance the security of your Internet communications. For normal communications, the Internet seems to be at least as secure as postal mail. While it's not unusual to hear about mail being stolen from postal mailboxes, it's rare to hear about e-mail messages being stolen.

Note

This chapter covers only basic information about security on the Internet. For much more detailed information, consult books such as Special Edition Using the Internet (Chapter 41), published by Que, Using Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 (Chapter 16), published by Que, and, for comprehensive information on the subject, to Internet Security Professional Reference, published by New Riders.
