Logging On

Outlook provides password protection for access to mail servers. If you're concerned about other people reading e-mail addressed to you, you should set up your e-mail accounts so a password is required before Outlook will connect to a mail server. In many cases, you don't have any choice about this because mail servers are usually set up to require a password.

Logging On to an Internet Mail Server

If you're running IMO Outlook and you have an Internet e-mail account, you can set up Outlook so it automatically supplies your password when you attempt to connect to the server, or so you have to provide the password each time you attempt to connect. Having Outlook automatically supply the password is convenient, but presents a security risk. If your computer is accessible to other people, it's generally better not to have Outlook automatically supply the password.
