Chapter 39. Using Outlook Securely > Creating Private Outlook Items

Creating Private Outlook Items

When you create an Outlook item, you can mark that item as private. After doing so, the item is displayed just like any other Outlook item when you display Outlook items in an Information viewer. However, if someone else with whom you have shared your Outlook folder opens that folder, that person will see that the item exists but won't be able to see any information about it.

For example, if you allow your administrative assistant to have access to your Calendar, you can create an appointment and mark it private. Subsequently, your administrative assistant can see that you have blocked out time on your calendar, but cannot see the details of that item.
