Chapter 39. Using Outlook Securely > Security in Exchange Server

Security in Exchange Server

The sections of this chapter that cover authenticated and encrypted messages focused on Internet messages. Most of that material applies also to messaging in the Exchange environment. Security is managed by key pairs (each user having a public and private key) in the same way it's managed for Internet messages.

In this case, though, instead of using an external source, such as VeriSign, for keys, keys are generated within the Exchange server. The Exchange administrator uses Key Management Server, a component of Exchange Server, to create and manage keys.
