Chapter 2. Understanding Outlook's Servi... > The No E-mail Service Option

The No E-mail Service Option

Outlook's No E-mail service option lets you use Outlook as a Personal Information Manager (PIM), (page 14) but provides no capability to send and receive e-mail and faxes. You might choose this service option if you don't use your computer for e-mail or for faxing, or if you're satisfied with other applications you have installed for e-mailing and faxing.

This service option uses a Personal Folders file in which you can save Calendar, Contact, Journal, Note, and Task items of information. You can share the information in this folder with other Outlook users in the same way that you can share other files. You can use Outlook's Import and Export Wizard to save specific types of Outlook items and items that satisfy certain criteria. You can also extract specific Outlook items by dragging them into a Windows folder.
