Chapter 31. Setting Up Lotus cc:Mail > Installing Vendor Independent Messaging ...

Installing Vendor Independent Messaging Files

Vendor Information Messaging (VIM) is an interface provided by Lotus that allows communication between cc:Mail and other applications. This interface consists of several files that must be installed on a computer on which applications are to communicate with cc:Mail. You must install these files on the computer on which you run Outlook if you want Outlook to send and receive cc:Mail messages.

At the time this book was written, the VIM files you need to access cc:Mail from Outlook could be downloaded from Lotus. These files were, and probably still are, available in a 705-kilobyte compressed file named Vdlw32.zip. You can download this file from various Web sites, one of which is http://ftp.support.lotus.com/ftp/pub/comm/ccmail/dev_tools.
