Setting up Dial-up Networking

Outlook uses your computer's modem to connect to your ISP and to send information to, and receive information from, your mail server. The dial-up networking capability within Windows is used to place the phone call.

Note

If you're using Outlook to send and receive intranet messages by way of a LAN, you don't need to set up a dial-up connection.
