Sending a Message

Sending a message is a two-step process. First, you send a message from the Message form to your Outbox. Then Outlook sends the message from your Outbox to your mail server, keeping a copy of the message in your Sent Items folder.

Choose Send in the Message form's Standard toolbar, or press Ctrl+Enter. Outlook immediately sends the message to your Outbox folder. You can choose the My Shortcuts group in the Outlook Bar, and then choose Outbox to see the messages in your Outbox, as shown in Figure 6.44.
