Sending a Message

Sending a message is a two-step process. First, you send a message from the Message form to your Outbox. Then Outlook sends the message from your Outbox to your mail server, keeping a copy of the message in your Sent Items folder.

Note

You can set up Outlook so that it attempts to send messages to your mail server immediately after you choose Send in the Message form's Standard toolbar. To do this, with any Information viewer displayed, choose Tools, Options, and select the Options dialog box's Mail Delivery tab. Check Send Messages Immediately When Connected. After you do this, Outlook attempts to establish a dial-up connection to your mail server when you choose Send.
