Part IX: Appendixes > Where Outlook Saves Information

Where Outlook Saves Information

Outlook saves configuration information and Outlook items in many different places and files. The data that you see in Outlook such as e-mail, appointments, tasks, reminders, and so on are saved in a file with a .PST extension. This file can have any name, but most often has the same name as the Outlook profile that you use. In C/W Outlook you may use a Personal Address Book that has a .PAB extension. Some configuration and customization information is kept in separate files with specific file extensions and some is kept in the Windows registry. This appendix provides details about where this information is stored.

Information is also available in the Office Resource Kit about all the files and registry keys that Outlook uses. This information is in the form of Excel workbook files.
