What Is a Workgroup?

Like many other words we often use, workgroup means different things to different people. A workgroup may be just a few people who work together in a small office; at the other extreme, a workgroup may be a large number of people who work in many different locations.

This chapter focuses on a small number of people, all of whom work in the same location. It's way beyond the scope of this book to deal with managing large, scattered, groups of people; for information on that subject, I refer you to books about managing networks such as Using Networks, published by Que.
