Chapter 15. Managing Outlook Folders > Copying and Moving Outlook Items

Copying and Moving Outlook Items

You can copy and move Outlook items from one folder to another. Each folder can hold only one type of Outlook item. If you copy or move an item from one folder to another folder of the same type, the item is unchanged. When you copy or move an item to a folder of a different type, Outlook changes the item to the type of the new folder. For example, if you copy or move an item from a Calendar folder to a Task folder, the item becomes a Task item.

When you copy an item, Outlook creates a new item in another folder, leaving the original item in its folder. When you move an item, Outlook places the item in another folder, deleting it from the original folder.
