Chapter 24. Exchange Server Overview > Synchronizing Exchange Folders

Synchronizing Exchange Folders

The subject of synchronizing folders was mentioned in the "Working Remotely" section of this chapter. That was in the context of updating your offline folders and your folders in the Exchange store so that both sets of folders contained the latest (and the same) information. Exchange also uses synchronization when an organization has two or more separate Exchange installations.

Many large enterprises have business units in various locations. In these circumstances, it's common for each business unit to have its own Exchange server. The various Exchange installations are interconnected and, at times chosen by the administrators, synchronize the information in their stores.
