Troubleshooting

Q1:Why isnt the Click event on my ComboBox control running?
A1: Probably because you mistyped the control name in the event procedure, or you changed the control name after writing the procedure. Change the procedure name (or the control name) so that they match, and the procedure should run.
Q2:Why doesn't the Click event fire when I select an item from a ListBox control?
A2: Probably because the control is bound; the Click event only fires for unbound controls.
Q3:Why does my code stop with an error message on the following line?
Dim dteStart As Date

A3: VBS doesn't support data typing of variables; all variables are of the all-purpose Variant type. Change the code to
Dim dteStart

and it should run.

Q4:Why does my VBS code work on my system, but not on my colleagues?
A4: There are several possibilities:
  • Your colleague may have a different version of Outlook, which doesn't support some of the features you are using in Outlook 2000.

  • Your colleague may have a different version of VBS, which doesn't support some of the features you are using in VBS 5.0, such as the For Each…Next or With…End With constructs.

  • Your colleague may have Outlook set up in a different e-mail configuration—for example, you might have Corporate/Workgroup while she has Internet Mail Only. Some actions work in one configuration, but not the other.
