Chapter 40. Creating and Using Custom Forms > Why Do You Need Custom Forms?

Why Do You Need Custom Forms?

Outlook's standard forms comprise a complete Personal Information Manager (PIM) (page 14) that includes all the functionality needed for many users. But Outlook is also a development environment that gives you the tools you need to create your own custom forms, based on the standard forms. This flexibility means that you are not tied down to the form design or data fields that Microsoft built into the Outlook standard forms. You can customize a copy of a standard form by adding a few custom fields (as described in Chapter 41, "Creating and Using Custom Fields"), or you can create an entirely new form.

→ To learn more about working with custom fields, see Chapter 41, "Creating and Using Custom Fields."
