Chapter 41. Creating and Using Custom Fi... > Outlook as a Development Environment

Outlook as a Development Environment

Although you normally interact with Outlook through its built-in forms (page 24) and actions, Outlook offers developers the opportunity to create custom forms based on Outlook's built-in forms, and also to write code to add functionality to these forms. When you need to design a very specialized form from scratch, you need the techniques covered in Chapter 40, "Creating and Using Custom Forms," which covers the creation of custom forms.

But sometimes you just need to add a few custom fields to a standard form, or use a few of the built-in fields that aren't normally displayed on the form. In this chapter you will learn how to add custom fields to a form.
