Exploring Movies and Sound in PowerPoint

You can insert media clips—sound and movie files—into your PowerPoint presentation for a full multimedia effect. You can insert clips from a variety of sources—clips from the Microsoft Clip Gallery (p. 244), clips you download from the Microsoft Web site, or your own sound and video clips. A PowerPoint presentation can play a clip automatically during a slide show, or you can customize the clip to play only by a mouse action. Other multimedia options include recording your own sounds or playing a CD track as a slide show background. In this chapter you learn how to

  • Insert media clips The Microsoft Clip Gallery includes numerous sound and movie clips you can insert into your presentation. You can also download Web clips and import your own clips into the gallery.

  • Insert your own media clips If you have your own media clips on your computer, you can directly insert them into a PowerPoint presentation as well.

  • Record a sound file If you want to add a sound file to a particular slide, you can record it yourself with a microphone.

  • Play a CD audio track Use music or other CD content as a background sound for a PowerPoint slide show.
