Troubleshooting

When I Run Setup, I Get an Error Message That Tells Me the Program Couldn't Find a Package to Install

It is unlikely you will see this message when running Setup from the CD. If you're running Setup from a shortcut on a local hard disk, check the parameters on the command line; there is a good chance they refer to a settings file that is unavailable. If you're running Setup from network share, open the Setup.ini file and make sure the line beginning MSI= indicates the correct package file. You will also see this error message if two or more package files are in the same folder and you have not specified which one to use, either in Setup.ini or in a custom settings file.

After Upgrading from a Previous Version 0f Word, Some Programs 0r Features Are Not Available

If you click the Upgrade Now option, Setup installs Word 2000 components only when the corresponding earlier program or feature is already on the computer. If you performed a custom install of Word 97 and opted not to install a particular feature, the Word 2000 Setup program uses those options rather than the defaults for a new installation. To install the missing pieces, rerun Word 2000 Setup.
