Secrets of the Office Masters: Unhiding the Clipboard Toolbar

Many experienced Office users have come to rely on the convenience and flexibility of the new Office Clipboard. The trouble is, it doesn't appear automatically when you want it. If you prefer to keep the Clipboard toolbar hidden (as most expert users do), you have to jump through hoops to get it to appear. And after it does show up, it tends to get in the way—at least for some users. The Clipboard toolbar doesn't move out of the way while you work, as the Office Assistant character does.

Fortunately, there's an easy solution: a simple macro we call ShowAndDockClipboard, which lets you quickly toggle the Office Clipboard. If the Clipboard toolbar is hidden, the macro makes it visible and docks it at the top of the window. If the Clipboard toolbar is already visible, the macro assumes you want to hide it and toggles it off. The macro runs in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Here's how to get it working in Word:
