Publishing Web Sites

If you worked with FrontPage offline to develop your Web site, you must publish the Web files to a Web server to make them available to your users. FrontPage provides a set of complete tools for publishing your Web site, including support for Web servers that do not have the Office Server Extensions (OSE) installed.

When FrontPage publishes your Web site, it copies your Web files to the Web server and corrects hyperlinks and document references for the new location. When using the Office Server Extensions (OSE) on the Web server, FrontPage uploads the files through the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) and uses HTTP's username and password capability to verify that you have the proper permissions to publish files. Using OSE, FrontPage can also perform other actions that you've made since the last time you published, such as deleting or renaming files.
