Chapter 48. FrontPage Essentials > How FrontPage 2000 Fits into Office

How FrontPage 2000 Fits into Office

Unlike some of the Office 2000 applications that were obviously tacked on to the package at the last minute, FrontPage 2000 has undergone an extensive facelift to make it much more Office-like. If you're new to FrontPage (or Web page design and management in general), you'll be able to leverage much of what you know about the traditional Office applications into FrontPage. Granted, you'll miss a few Office-wide features (such as the Office Assistant, the Drawing Toolbar, and AutoShapes capability), but by and large experienced Office users will find the learning curve for FrontPage 2000 much lower than that for competing products.

Although the other Office applications can lay some claim to the "Web-enabled" marketing cheer, FrontPage 2000 is the real thing. If you're serious about designing and maintaining more than a few pages—a task easily handled by Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Access, each in its own way—you need FrontPage 2000.
