Creating Visual Effects and Professional Pointing Devices

After you create worksheets, tables, presentations, and so on, you are likely to want to draw the reader's attention to an area of significance. What other choices do you have in addition to the (stale) straight arrow? One option is arrows that have more visual interest. If your chart has a breakeven point, for example, you can highlight it with an architectural arrow (see Figure 24.40).

Note

The connector AutoShapes can achieve a similar effect, although not with as dramatic a curve. Connectors aren't required to connect two other shapes; they can be used as stand-alone drawing objects. You also can use the arrows on the Block Arrows submenu of the AutoShapes button, but they're not quite as flexible as arrows you create yourself.
