Charting Hidden Data

You can maintain a chart's integrity even if you hide (page 521) the data that the chart references. By default, Excel hides the information in a chart when the underlying data is hidden. Suppose that you created an outline that sums up the quarters under the months, as shown in Figure 16.35. If you hide the monthly data, as shown in Figure 16.36, the chart displays only the quarterly totals.

To plot nonvisible cells on the chart, perform the following steps:
