Using the Clipboard to Move and Copy Data

You'll find a significant change in the use of the Clipboard in Office 2000. Rather than holding one cut or copied selection at a time, like the Windows Clipboard, the Office Clipboard can hold up to 12 selections, which can be pasted one at a time or as a group. In addition, you can display the new Clipboard toolbar, which contains an icon for each of the cut or copied selections. The toolbar displays a ScreenTip when you point to the icon, and you can drag the icon from the toolbar to the document to paste the selection in place. The Clipboard toolbar also contains buttons for copying, pasting, and clearing the Clipboard's contents (see Figure 5.1).

Note

Although the Office Clipboard keeps up to 12 items, the Windows Clipboard retains only the last selection cut or copied.
