Extracting Date-Based Totals from Lists

When maintaining controls on a business, you'll need proper reporting procedures, and with nearly every business weekly, monthly, and yearly costs to date are standard reporting. You probably also need to know whether the business is on track with projections for the year. After extracting the totals, you'll want to show variances to analyze projections versus actual results. The following sections describe how to set up formulas for all these types of calculations.

Author's Note

The key element in extracting information effectively is consistency of the data. Formulas or functions can be case sensitive if you set them up that way; they won't return the desired results if the list isn't set up appropriately.
