Chapter 6. Formatting Worksheets > Copying Formats with the Format Painter

Copying Formats with the Format Painter

Imagine you've formatted the column headings in one section of a worksheet with a different font, larger point size, a shaded background for the cells, and a thick border under the headings. That's four different formats you've applied. If you decide that you want the headings throughout the worksheet (or throughout the whole workbook) to look the same way, use the Format Painter to copy them from the section you've formatted to other sections you want formatted in the same way.

Author's Note

Another method is to create and apply styles for the headings. See the earlier section "Working with Styles" for details.
