Using AutoCorrect to Fix Mistakes and Enter Content

AutoCorrect is an Office feature (available through all Office applications but Outlook) that fixes spelling errors and typos as you type. For example, if you type the word teh instead of the, AutoCorrect fixes it for you as soon as you press the Spacebar or Enter key at the end of the word (indicating that the word is complete). From the moment you install Excel, AutoCorrect can correct many common transposition errors (adn instead of and) and misspellings (alot instead of a lot). You can also teach AutoCorrect additional corrections.

Access AutoCorrect by choosing Tools, AutoCorrect. The AutoCorrect dialog box opens (see Figure 4.16) containing options for how AutoCorrect will be used, and enabling you to view, edit, delete, and add to the existing AutoCorrect entries.
