Understanding the Visual Basic Editor

The Visual Basic Editor is the tool used to display VBA code in Excel. All VBA code is accessed through the Editor.

Before you look at the Editor, here's a little background on what it displays. Every workbook is made up of a series of Visual Basic objects, as mentioned earlier. Each sheet in a workbook is an object, as is the workbook itself. If a workbook contains a VBA procedure, it will have a module object. A module looks and acts like a word processing document. It contains the VBA instructions or code that make up procedures. The collection of all objects that make up a workbook is called a project. The Editor displays projects and their associated objects.
