Creating Your Own Web Queries

If you work for a large organization that maintains a Web site and has branch or regional offices, you may want to be able to download data from the Web site directly into an Excel worksheet. To do this, you may need to create your own Web query, particularly if the page that contains the data you need is a dynamic, interactive one.

A web query is nothing more than a small text file named with a file extension of .IGY. There are either three or four elements to the file, depending on circumstances. Each occupies a single line, which ends in a carriage return.
