Chapter 26. Working with Web Pages > Running Web Queries

Running Web Queries

The HTML markup language and the World Wide Web have made it easy for us to receive and read up-to-date information in our browsers. Excel's Web Query feature goes beyond this, however, by enabling us to create queries for specific sites, download information directly into an Excel workbook, and update it as often as necessary. This is particularly useful for items such as stock quotes, sales and inventory tracking, and company financial information.

By using Web queries, you can import tabular information from sites on the World Wide Web, as well as from your own local intranet. Once you have captured the data, you can use Excel's powerful features to analyze it just as if you had created the file yourself.
