Using the Paste Function and the Formula Palette

If you use a function frequently, you'll find that it's often easiest to simply type the function yourself. There are two problems with using this approach that might confuse you until you fully understand all the Excel functions. First, you would have to memorize all of the different functions available in Excel, their arguments, return values, and so on. Second, it becomes difficult to see how each argument is working within the function.

Using two integrated tools in Excel makes using functions much easier than otherwise. The Paste Function dialog box coupled with the Formula Palette walk you through selecting and completing any of Excel's functions.
