Opening and Closing Workbook Files

Opening a file is fairly straightforward: Choose File, Open (or press Ctrl+O), then double-click the file name in the Open dialog box. You can also use the Open button on the toolbar to display the Open dialog box.

The key is getting the Open dialog box to display the workbook name you want to open. You'll find that the Open dialog box, shown in Figure 2.6, looks very similar to the Save As dialog box (covered in the previous section). Files and folders appear in the list box, and you can change the display at any time. If the file you want is in the current drive or folder, you'll see it listed. If it's not, you can switch to the appropriate drive or folder using the Look In drop-down list or by clicking open any of the folders listed in the list box.
