Chapter 2. Managing Workbooks, Windows, ... > Saving an Existing File Under a New ...

Saving an Existing File Under a New Name

Use the File, Save As command to save an existing file under a new name. For example, if you've created a file called INVENTORY1 and you want to base a new workbook on the data in INVENTORY1, you can use the Save As command to create a new file based on the old file. The original file remains the same.

To save an existing file under a new name, choose File, Save As. In the Save As dialog box, give the file a new name. If you want to save the new file in a different folder or drive do so now. When finished, choose Save and the new copy of the file is saved under the new name. The original file is closed and left unchanged.
