Using Data from Other Applications

There are many reasons that you may need to share or exchange data with other applications. You may want to add features to your Excel workbooks, such as multimedia, or advanced drawing, that are not built-in features of Excel. You might need to include data that another user has entered into another application, or that has been downloaded from a mainframe computer. You also may need to make the data in your workbooks available to other users who don't use Excel.

Excel provides a variety of methods for meeting these requirements. You can select the method for sharing data with other programs based upon your needs and the ability of the other program to support these other features.
