Chapter 3. Entering and Editing Data > Using Functions in Formulas

Using Functions in Formulas

If you're looking for a speedier way to enter formulas, Excel's functions are the way to go. Functions are built-in Excel formulas. Excel provides many calculation functions for you. For example, you can calculate a loan payment, find the square root of a number, calculate an average, count items in a list, and do much more using the hundred or more Excel functions. Although you'll learn more about using functions in formulas extensively in Chapter 6, "Using Excel Functions," you need to know what they are and how they're used with formulas.
