Opening a Workbook from the Start Menu or the Desktop

In the section titled "General Options," previously in this chapter, you learned how to use the Alternate Startup File Location option to automatically open a specified workbook each time you start Excel. A similar method is to place a workbook you use frequently on the Windows 95 Start menu. Then, when you click the workbook icon on the Start menu, both Excel and the workbook open automatically.

To place an Excel workbook on the Start menu, follow these steps:
