Chapter 8. Customizing Excel > Customizing Toolbars and Menus

Customizing Toolbars and Menus

Excel is extremely flexible in letting you control its built-in toolbars and menus, and in letting you build your own. You can change any aspect of the toolbars and menus in Excel. There are a number of reasons that you might want to do this:

  • Building a new toolbar that contains functions that you commonly use lets you quickly access menu commands on a toolbar.

  • You can change Excel's built-in toolbars to fit the way that you work or your personal tastes.

  • You can access macros you've recorded or written from toolbars so that they're easy to run.

  • Create new menus that contain VBA macros you use.

  • Distribute custom menus and toolbars to others as part of a workbook. These custom menus and toolbars can be part of an Excel-based application you've developed.
