Chapter 31. Advanced VBA Programming > Creating PivotTables with VBA

Creating PivotTables with VBA

Once you have mastered the syntax and structure of VBA, the best way to build your programming skills is to explore more of the rich object model that is built into Excel and the other Office 97 applications. One of the most powerful analytical tools in Excel is the PivotTable, which is used to generate a wide variety of reports and calculations with Excel database information. Although the PivotTable is a great tool for skilled Excel users to manipulate interactively, it is also available for automated control under VBA. As with any application feature, the key to controlling PivotTables with VBA is understanding the PivotTable object model.

Figure 31.17 shows the data that is used to create the PivotTables in this chapter. This data represents product orders that have been placed for a variety of products that were purchased by many customers and several different salespersons.
