Chapter 31. Advanced VBA Programming > Using ActiveX Controls on Worksheets and...

Using ActiveX Controls on Worksheets and Forms

Excel 97 comes with a variety of controls for use on your forms and on your worksheet. The controls you've seen so far in the chapter are the built-in controls of VBA. Office 97 and VBA also allow you to add a virtually limitless collection of additional controls through the use of ActiveX technology.

ActiveX is an open programming standard, developed by Microsoft, that allows developers to create additional controls that can be used in Office 97 applications. These controls also can be used in Visual Basic for Windows applications, Internet Explorer, and any other application that supports ActiveX. You can develop your own ActiveX controls using Visual Basic for Windows, Control Creation Edition.
