Doughnut Charts

The Doughnut chart is not often seen in business (at least in the United States), and that's a shame. When you need to directly compare the equivalent of multiple pie charts, the Doughnut chart is perfect for the job.

Doughnut charts show multiple series, in which each series shows how various values contribute to the whole for that series. Two subtypes of Doughnut charts are available: the normal Doughnut and the Exploded Doughnut. The Exploded Doughnut works just like the Exploded Pie chart in that it allows you to emphasize any one category by "pulling it out" from the others. Figure 12.18 shows an example Doughnut chart.
