Communicating with Charts

Choosing how to chart data is an art form. Different types of charts are designed to show data in different ways. Using the wrong type of chart to make a point usually confounds the audience. For example, while you can show a trend of sales figures using a 3-D surface chart, such a chart is less likely to strike a chord with the audience than a simpler (and expected) column or line chart might.
