Lesson 23. Transitions, Timing, and Anim... > Setting Up Transitions and Timing

Setting Up Transitions and Timing

Transitions and timing are actually two very different things, but they happen to be set using the same PowerPoint controls. A transition, as explained previously, is an animation that moves the presentation along from one slide to the next. The default transition is for one slide to simply vanish and the next slide appear in its place.

Setting timing is optional. The default timing is None, which means the speaker or audience must advance the slides manually (as you learned to do in Lesson 22). When you set timing for a transition between two slides, you are specifying the amount of time the first slide will appear on-screen before the next slide moves in to take its place.
